Since 1994, Eric Tetler has worked as president of Windfield Alloy located in Atkinson, New Hampshire. He founded the national recycling firm and expanded the number of employees from six to 55. When not involved with his firm, Eric Tetler supports numerous charitable endeavors, including the Salvation Army.
Founded as a way to unite people with God through Christ, the Salvation Army considers itself an international movement with a ministry motivated by the love of God. Multiple chapters operate across the country; one of these is the Northern New England Division, which covers the state of New Hampshire as well as Maine and Vermont.
To help raise money, the Northern New England Division sponsors a variety of events throughout the year. The Freedom 5K Run/Walk, scheduled for August 1, 2016, starts along the ocean at the Old Orchard Beach in Maine. This third-annual event raises funds for the Salvation Army’s anti-human-trafficking ministries in Portland. The first 150 people who register receive a commemorative bib and T-shirt. For those not wishing to run or walk, opportunities are available to volunteer to help with race timing, serve at the water table, or assist with registration.
